Deep Dive on the Polar Plunge
Me: Who in their right mind would jump into freezing cold water in February?
Me to Me: You will
It's that time of year again. The time where every employee who was only half paying attention to their email accidentally signed up to plunge into freezing cold water. The time where employees who are cautious (read: smart) will bundle up and watch as their co-workers wade into icy waters.
Oregonians staff has been participating in this tomfoolery for 5 years. Some employees participate for the "rush", some come out for the soup, but most employees are really there for the cause. In 2016 the Polar Plunge was able to raise an incredible $415,000 or Special Olympics Oregon. "The mission of Special Olympics Oregon is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community." We are excited to continue the tradition of plunging in 2017!
Help the Oregonians team by donating in branch- or coming out to see us take the plunge on February 25, 2017.
