What determines my credit score, and how is it calculated?

Your credit worthiness is most often expressed in terms of a score from 300 to 850. This value is a credit score, with two main scores being FICO and VantageScore. These scores are computed by a patented algorithm. Credit scores are reported to credit agencies: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. These agencies produce what's termed as a credit report.

We use VantageScore 4.0 for our underwriting decisions. This score is determined by:

  • Payment history (41%)
  • Credit utilization (20%)
  • Depth of credit (20%)
  • Recent credit (11%)
  • Balances (6%)
  • Available credit (2%)

How to get your credit report

You can get monitor your VantageScore inside our digital banking platform (just click the Credit Score button in the main menu). You can also view a digital version of your TransUnion credit report in the Credit Score area of digital banking.

Thanks to a U.S. federal law, you're entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Although these reports are free, you'll have to pay to get your actual credit score.
